This sensor, which uses the side pressure sensitivity of optical fibres, is characterized by its ability to be used in explosive areas, since no electricity is present at the operational site.
Further advantages are the disturbance-free signal transmission , simple optical connections and several optional output interfaces at the electrical evaluation unit.
Among the main applications is both low cost fibre optical occupation signalling and basic measurement applications like step sensor systems. Additionally the fibre optic load sensor can be used to monitor wide areas in order to provide secure surroundings.
